INA, Ill. (April 7, 2026) — The RLC Athletics Department is proud to recognize sophomore Marteena Clover (Murphysboro) as the April Student Athlete of the Month. This honor highlights Clover's athletic success and her commitment to academics.
Clover is the Lady Warriors Softball primary catcher, and for the season, she is hitting .352 with 6 doubles, 3 HR and 9 RBIs. In 26 games, she has caught 153 innings out of 157.
"Marteena does an outstanding job helping our pitching staff," said Head Coach Chad Todaro. "Due to an injury to the teams back up catcher, Marteena not only catches both games of doubleheaders, but she also comes into practices early to work with pitchers. She has even volunteered to come in and catch potential pitching recruits for future Lady Warrior teams."
Clover has provided a very strong defense behind the plate and, with her strong throwing arm, has kept teams from using a running game against the Lady Warriors.
"Marteena continues to give 100% effort, and never takes a play off," said Todaro. "She has had an outstanding season this year, and continues to help push the team towards a winning season."
The Student Athlete of the Month is given each month to recognize our athletes on and off the field. The student's picture will be on display at the entrance of the RLC REC for all of those who come to workout or practice.
